The message board below Garrett McNamara’s statement is heating up. Maybe being that Garrett was riding a WaveJet on this specific wave was the added fuel to the fire. Yes, many big wave surfers do share (by choice or not) waves at spots such as Mavericks, Todos and Waimea due to the fact it is so crowded. On the bigger spots such as Phantoms, Cortez, and Jaws surfers most likely prefer to have nobody sharing the wave with them due to the fact one surfer’s slip up can cause trouble for the other. On that note we think Garrett should had just waited and got the next wave in line.

Checking out the newest issue of Surfing Magazine and on the back cover there is a Volcom ad of a half pipe floating in the water. We pitched this exact idea to Nixon years ago based on the fact of them having the money to fund the project and a great skate team, but they never went forward with it.
Good on ya Volcom
