We went to our local surf shop and purchased a new pair of Churchill Makapuu swimfins. The box reads “floating swimfins”, but our test say’s different. Their are many swimfins out their and they all work great you just have to find which ones you prefer. We also suggest wearing fin socks as if you go barefoot the rubber of the fins will rub against your toes and cause blisters. These fins can be purchased here for $42.95.

The friendly park ranger reminded us, “remember when the annual pass use to be $30?” No we don’t, but now they are $195. She was quick to add that if we go to the beach over 13 times in a year we have made our money back being most state park’s are charging around $15 a day.

Chasing Mavericks Movie Review
Last night we went to see Chasing Mavericks at the theatre. We give the movie two thumbs up, go see it! Great acting by Jonny Weston who played Jay Moriarity.
Fun fact: Actress Abigail Spencer (plays Brenda Hesson) is pro surfer’s Sterling Spencer’s sister.
We give the cheesiest line to pro surfer (not an actor) Peter Mel. Their is one scene when they are walking down the trail at Mav’s suited up with boards in hand, and it shows this huge wave and then Peter say’s, “that isn’t El Nino that is El Jefe”.
Pro surfers Peter Mel, Greg Long and Zach Wormhoudt all had minor speaking parts. Now knowing all three of these guy’s personally and knowing they are not actors it’s kind of unfair to judge them as far as their acting skills. On that note “A” for effort.
As far as all the surfing scenes we’re all very accurate and they (Hollywood) nailed it right on except for one wave they should had left out. Towards the end of the movie it shows actor Jonny Weston (playing Jay) paddle into this huge wave at Mav’s on a dark cloudy day. He paddles, drops in and makes the drop coming through with the white water. After the wave is clearly over then they cut to another wave on a bright, sunny, glassy day showing him getting tubed. It’s one of those things only a surfer would notice, but god you could of just left out that one wave.

Life is made up of moments – some forgettable, some memorable, and some so good they’re worth recollecting at days end. To find these moments, the rare and amazing ones, you have to get out of the house and find them.
Director Taylor Steele set out to capture those classic moments with the help of some friends. They escaped to Mexico to find places where good times happen and memories are made, places we’d all rather be. In doing so we hope they’ll inspire you to experience some golden moments of your own.
