Anthony Ruffo’s Drug Sentencing Date Set

Former pro surfer Anthony Ruffo pleads “no contest” (not admitting guilt, but will not fight the allegations) today inside a Santa Cruz courthouse to selling meth. The sentencing will take place on Feb. 21, 2012 where Ruffo will here is final punishment being jail, prison or house arrest.

Anthony – “It’s a relief to have this day behind me,” said Ruffo today after the court proceedings had ended. “I’m ready for whatever the next chapter is, ready to move on.”

Ben Rice (Anthony’s attorney) – “I think what he’s ultimately looking at is a split sentence: one year in jail and three years probation. With the restructuring in California’s prison and jail system, he may not actually have to spend any time in jail and would be monitored by an ankle bracelet.”

Australian Kieren Perrow Wins Billabong Pipeline Pro

“It’s a hard one to lose because you’ve only got one guy to beat and you’ve beaten so many, but it’s the hardest one to win,” Parkinson said. “I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving than Kieren (Perrow). He’s a true Pipe Master and one of the best guys out there and I’m so glad he won.” – Joel Parkinson 2nd place

“It took me up until now to get over getting second to Jeremy last year” Perrow said. “It’s so good to get back here. I just felt so comfortable the whole time. I’ve had such a great event anyway and coming in to today, it was just amazing. The waves have been phenomenal. I haven’t surfed Pipe like that in my entire career. This is pretty much the pinnacle for me.” – Kierren Perrow 1st place

Danes Speech – Blah, Blah, Blah,

“Hi everyone. Um, wow! I feel like I’ve made it fairly difficult to be a fan of mine this year. I’m really honored that people still voted for me and I’m up here accepting a second place award, which is pretty wild. And, you know, I surfed Pipeline today. That was pretty humbling. I also saw the heat draw. And the swell forecast. That’s like, pretty much the meanest joke, ever. Um, Jamie? Please have mercy on my soul. I got a lot of respect for the waves in Hawaii. They humble me every time. And also the surfers here, and also the surfers on the WCT. And um, you know, it might not be for me, but, I’m stoked that people are still voting for me for this sort of shit, so… thanks. Um, rad. Thanks.”
