BOARDCAVE.COM SECURES GRANT FUNDING FOR PATENT PENDING SOFTWARE
ASB Magazine: Surfboard industry price and brand compare startup Boardcave has just secured funding from the Australian Government for their patent pending software that allows surfboard manufacturers to facilitate orders online, connecting and selling directly with surfers around Australia. Boardcave Co-founder, Ryan Mets says the recent injection of grant funding will help us invest in our recent growth and accelerate the business building process.
“Funding will play an essential roll in our growth strategy for Boardcave. It will help us secure the additional resources needed to further improve the surfboard buying experience online,” Mets said.
Boardcave gives surfboard manufacturers access to their online storefronts, allowing them to utilise their Boardcave page as an easy to use online store, designed and developed specifically to sell surfboards online.
JR Surfboards Brand Manager Toni-anne Rodd said as soon as we went live on Boardcave we started getting sales.
“Boardcave manages the promotions, sales, transactions and shipping. We simply get orders and get paid, giving us the opportunity to focus on manufacturing the highest quality surfboards,” Toni said.
The Boardcave platform breaks down local barriers and connects surfboard manufacturers with surfers around Australia. The easy to use website makes it convenient for surfers to get all the information to compare, customise and order surfboards from leading surfboard manufacturers around Australia.
Boardcave has had an amazing response from their first software release three months ago with more than 30,000 users utilising the Board Engine to find and compare surfboard models.
Boardcave Co-founder, Chris Greben says the statistics gathered from the Board Engine are allowing us to further refine the application and identify key trends in surfboard buying.
The data gathered will be essential in evolving our systems further to satisfy the surfboard buying experience online.
Boardcave will start to expand their product mix over the following months to include surf accessories like surfboard fins, bags, leg ropes, tail pads and more.
Boardcave has recently been nominated as a top 10 finalist for the Australian StartupSmart Awards 2013. The awards recognize the most innovative and fastest-growing new businesses in Australia. Featuring exciting start-ups from an array of industries, drawn from across the country, the winners represent the emerging generation of business leaders in Australia.
