Lowers

We hit up Lower Tresltes this morning with John John Florence where he was trying out a few different boards for the comp.

Sorry but the mental action photo (aerial) we got of John John today is already snatched up so please settle for this

Cheyne Magnusson Rail Surfing

When your dad is a former professional skateboarder (Tony Magnusson, currently owner of Osiris shoes) you tend to think a little outside the box when it comes to surfing. Here Cheyne puts skateboarding and surfing together in Oceanside with a large rail that is planted to the ocean bottom. (it took around 10 guys to carry the rail to and from the ocean)

The look on Cheyne’s face says it all. There is no backing out now.

Taking the average 50/50 skate trick to new heights

Yeah, a twin fin is definitely the call for this trick

Julian Wilson P H O T O S

We have just finished uploading all of Julian Wilson’s surfing action and lifestyle images and they can be viewed on his page. Here are a few:

Bernard Testemale and Julian at the 2009 Quiksilver Pro WCT in Hossegor France
Bernard: Bonjour Julian mon nom est Bernard Testemale et je suis le photographe de Quiksilver à plein temps ici en France. J’aimerais obtenir des photos d’action de surf de vous pendant que vous êtes ici.
Julian: I don’t speak French

Julian ramping out at Tamarack Beach in Carlsbad

Julian was not a happy camper on this wave as he was seconds away from nailing the lip but had to put on the brakes instead in order from hitting this guy paddling back out at Swamis

Julian freshly on with his new sponsor Nike at the Nike WQS at Lower Tresltes

Lady killer – Nike US Open, Huntington Beach

Julian and Owen Wright – Hurley Pro WCT, Lowers – Most likely wanted to flip off the judges at this moment, but went for the thumbs up instead as more of a sarcastic gesture (in which this gesture you don’t get fined for)

ASP Decides To Change There Ways

Damien Fahrenfort breaks this latest news that the ASP will bail on there new tennis system for 2012. (much like the little boy that cried wolf as we never know the truth with good’ol Dooma).

What do we think? One thing is for sure we like the idea of new surfers coming on the tour half way through that have made it through the WQS. Some fresh new blood on the tour and that way it keeps everyone on the tour(s) working hard to stay and and make it on. On the flip side it makes it harder (we think) to make it onto the CT. Your only going to have the freaks make it on the tour and at the end of the day that is what we all want to see, the best of the best!

Who do we think will replace Brodie Carr as the CEO of the ASP? One reader over on Dooma’s site mentioned Shea Lopez, which we do agree would make a great CEO, but on the flip-side Shea is now a father of 2 and a married man and that would be to much traveling for him. We also think Shea is working for Vans full time right now also.

Kelly Slater action and lifestyle photos from his win at the Hurley Pro on September 21, 2011 are now live on his page.

Do people forget that the surfers board caddy’s get 10% of the surfers winnings? Not Steven Slater whom may have walked home with a cool $10,500.00 from his big bro’s $105,000.00 pay day.

Kelly Slater you have just won the Hurley Lowers Pro WCT, can you take our picture Mr. photographer?

Rob Machado and Kolohe Andino Surfing Action Photos From Nike US Open

We have just finished uploading surfing action and lifestyle photos of Rob Machado and Kolohe Andino from the 2011 Nike US Open of Surfing presented by Hurley and Converse contest in Huntington Beach.

Rob Machado surfing in the Hurley trials where hand picked surfers have to compete against one and other to make it as a wild card into the Hurley Pro WCT at Lowers.

Kolohe sporting the white and pink surfboard. We got one really nice water shot sequence of Kolohe doing a frontside air as well as many photos taken from land where we must admit he did have many girls yelling for him (“from what we personally saw” we would say Kelly Slater 1st, Rob Machado 2nd, Kolohe 3rd (he get’s all the teeny boppers) and a tie between Dane Reynolds and Julian Wilson for 4th) . We know you can tell a lot by a surfers popularity when you see how many people come running up to them once they exit the water.
