Welcome To The Nike US Open Of Surfing

Today was our first day at the Nike US Open of Surfing presented by Hurley and Converse. We began the day shooting water photos in the first five heats. The heats consisted of surfers Kelly Slater, Kolohe Andino, Julian Wilson, Dane Reynolds, and so on. Then we ran around and took happy snaps and finished the day shooting land photos. Very tired now and having a vodka cranberry. We will see you tomorrow…

“Kolohe can I have a hug” yells out a screaming fan. “I already gave you one” replies Kolohe. “I know, but I want another one”. What happened to giving out autographs or posing for a photo?

Kelly Slater out for war!

Joel Tudor Surfing And Longboarding Action Images

We have began to upload action and lifestyle images of Joel Tudor. They begin in 1994 where Joel made his presence in Pismo Beach, California (where were from). Joel was riding for Oxbow wetsuits and clothing. Then we make our way down to Huntington Beach for the PSAA where Joel is longboarding in the contest. Then some hang ten time at his most surfed spot Cardiff Reef. Then we make it over to the North Shore of Oahu where Joel drops on one of if not the biggest wave to date that he has ridden at the Pipeline (very nice surfboard it is). Couple snapshots (shot on a point and shoot) of Joel on the Pipeline pathway/trail in front of the Gerry Lopez home (now Volcom owns it). Back to HB where Joel is in the Shock Wave US Open. Enjoy the photos as we will uploading more of him in the days to come.

Kelly Slater August 2010 Hurley Pro US Open Of Surfing

The event photos of Kelly Slater begin with Kelly coming out of the competitors tent where only surfers and there coaches are allowed. Kelly grabs his jersey and makes his entrance to the biggest attendance in the world at any surf contest. Comes in for an interview and greeted by Steve “Zeldo” Zeldin (who he himself calls “The Great Zeldini”, don’t ask us why) and then says his hellos to Rob Machados brother (we don’t know his name). Now fast forward the time and Kelly is in the semi-final against HB local Brett Simpson where Kelly is taken down and out of the event (Brett Simpson went on to win the Hurley US Open of Surfing beating out Jordy Smith in the final).

Would you call these girls high maintenance or in reality there not asking much from a man. Good old street marketing. Three ladies in bikinis promoting health insurance on the pier in Huntington Beach, California. (such a west coast thing).
