Surfing Magazine Makes The Cut

A Photo Editor (APE) is a blog owned and ran by Rob Haggart, who is the former Director of Photography for Men’s Journal and Outside Magazine. Yes, this is one and usually the only blog we visit and today we noticed a posting on there site under “The Daily Edit” for Surfing Magazine. Such love on the art direction, but yet so much hate (from the locals) of the story.

ps-Rob can we get some love here at Surf Images as we already bribed you once?

Surfing Media No Longer Allowed In Salina Cruz, Mexico

You would expect something of this from Stab Magazine, but yet this has come from Surfing Magazine who have for many years had there staff photographers shooting photos at Salina Cruz, Mexico. Local Salina Cruz surfer and surf camp owner Cesar Ramirez writes, “I hearby advise everyone that there has been a meeting between the local surfers in Salina Cruz including all the surf camps and as a result to this disgusting article … as of now, for 2 years foreign photographers and videographers are not welcome in Salina Cruz, doesn’t matter what surf team or what magazine they work for.” Full story here

Surfers Break The Law To Go Surf

“Danger High Surf – Jetty Closed No Trespassing Violators Will Be Prosecuted”. This sign reminds us a lot of those no skateboarding signs you see in most every public area. Yesterday San Clemente surfers Tanner Rozunko, Ian Crane, Taylor Clark and Surfing magazine photo editor Peter Taras chose to break the law up in LA county just to go surf. Then after a two hour session low and behold who do we see on the beach scantily dressed as she is giving the boys quiet a show from the land. We can’t tell you who this “A” list celebrity is just yet, but you will sure find out sooner then later (eat your heart out Doomas Rumors). In the mean time enjoy some of the shots below we got of the crew.

You Can Get A Little Closer Mr. Photog

Surfing magazine photo editor Peter Taras (right) working overtime as he is shooting pro surfer Luke Davis in Oceanside, California as he keeps his buns warm over the fire pit. We could only imagine how the conversation went between these two photographers =)
